NAB arrests director MDA along with three accomplices on illegal allotment of plots

National Accountability Bureau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in compliance of arrest warrants issued by ChairmanNAB yesterday arrested following Mansehra Development Authority officers to complete investigation against them:
1.Asad Ali Shah, Ex-Director, MDA.
2.Mazhar Hussain Shah, Housing Officer, MDA.
3.Muhammad Saeed Khan, Building Inspector, MDA.
4.Sajjad Ahmad Jan, AD Finance, MDA.
Human Rights Cell of Supreme Court of Pakistan had also taken cognizance of the matter and directed NAB to speedup investigation in the instant case. At present four types of cases against officials of MDA are under investigation with NAB (KPK):-
1.Illegal allotment of plots.
2.Illegal allotment of extra area to regular allotties.
3.Illegal allotment of shops and model houses.
4.Accumulation of assets disproportionate to know sources of income.
Hundreds of residential plots which were required to be publically auctioned to the highest bidder were illegally allotted to favourites on nominal prices. Public utility plots like parks, taxi stand etc were illegally converted into residential plots and were allotted to their Blue-Eyed individuals. Huge loss to Govt exchequer was caused by allotting plots for CNG station, community centers, Shadi Hall and primary school on very nominal prices.  As a special favour 04 Double Story Model Houses were allotted on lease to persons just @ Rs.260/- monthly rent for 33 years, furthermore plots of Nearest and Dearest were shifted from under-developed sectors to developed sectors. In some cases single plot was allotted to more than one persons. Individuals were allowed to sale outplots without even having deposited the price. By misusing their authority, the MDA officials allottedextra areas adjacent to allotted plots of individuals much below the approved rate. Through above stated mal-practices the accused persons accumulated huge assets, investigation against which is under process. Arrested individuals were produced before Judge, Accountability Court Peshawar, who has remanded them to National Accountability Bureau for 14 days, for further investigation.
