Sanaullah rejects news of Rs 2 billion ransom by Shahbaz Taseer’s kidnappers, assures his safe release

LAHORE: Punjab’s law minister Rana Sanaullah has strongly rejected news of Shahbaz Taseer’s kidnappers demanding Rs 2 billion for his release, and has assured of his safe release.

During briefing session and a pre-session conference ahead of Punjab Assembly meeting. The Punjab’s law minister refused to divulge any further information regarding progress in the case, due to the issue being highly sensitive.
He said that the murder of Salman Taseer was under investigation by courts since past seven months, but no leader of PPPP ever bothered to assist, and after dumping Taseer family were concentrating on eking out political advantage out of Shahbaz Taseer’s abduction.
Among other major decisions announced in Thursdays Assembly session, the minister informed that 32,218 science teachers would be appointed for imparting high standard education.
He also informed that earlier 40,000 educators and 1500 police personnel were appointed on merit basis, and said that a competent authority under the chair of retired judge would also be formed to ensure transparency of the system.
He also informed that Punjab ‘s need was 12000MWs out of which the Province lacked 4000MWs.
Replying to a question, he denied that Governor had any authority to appoint vice chancellor for universities; rather this authority lay with CM and government.
He also rejected the claim of Chaudhry Zaheeruddin made in a press conference that since 2009 to date there had been 33000 cases of kidnappings for ransom, cautioning that deliberate misquoting of facts and figures was an ethical and punishable offence. Online
