President Zardari for impartial action against Karachi criminals

KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari has directed authorities to carry out impartial action against criminal elements of Karachi, regardless of their affiliations.

Talking to Sindh home minister Manzoor Wasan on Thursday, he also gave specific directives to increase the salaries of Sindh police at par with their counterpart Punjab police, in two phases.
The Sindh home minister Manzoor Wasan briefed President Zardari over law and order situation of Karachi, whence President expressed his deep concerns and apprehensions over bails/ release of target killers through courts, and also issued instructions/directives to law ministry to legislate tougher laws and stronger prosecution.
“ Stronger prosecution would lessen crimes by invoking fear in possible criminals” he reasoned.
Talking to journalists outside Bilawal House in Karachi, Manzoor Wasan informed that Provincial government had provided funds to police for purchase of latest technology: rejecting the notion that federal government had anything to do with these funds.
He cited purchases of 15 armored vehicles, and bulletproof jackets for police from the funds, while 35 additional armored vehicles were also on the anvil.
Referring to the briefing delivered to President Asif Ali Zardari, Manzoor Wasan said that President had expressed his satisfaction over law and order situation of Metropolis. Online
