No new unit added; power shortfall hits 3300MW

LAHORE: Electricity shortfall has climbed to 3300 MW as no new addition could be made to the national grid and as a result the energy crisis has worsened and loadshedding increased across the country.

According media reports, the total power generation stands at 13.782 MW against the demand of 16,997 MW, leaving a gap of 3300 MW. This has led to loadshedding up to 6 hours in cities and 10 hours in rural parts of the country.
He said the break up of the country’s present power generation is as follows: hydel 6080 MW and thermal 1607 MW while the electricity coming from IPPs stands at 5699 MW. Online
