KARACHI: Four patients on ventilators died at Karachi’s Jinnah Hospital due to power outage on Tuesday.
The
patients were on ventilators as they needed to be on oxygen owing to
their condition. The hospital had reportedly been out of power since
midnight. The patients were admitted in Neuro Surgery ward.
On
the other hand, the spokesman of Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC)
said that KESC is providing electricity to the hospital without any
suspension. Therefore, power outage occurred due to fault in hospital’s
electric – distribution system.
The hospital sources told that
the generators also failed working due to the protracted load shedding,
resulting in four patients losing their lives.
The families and
relatives of the deceased have expressed anger over the negligence of
the authorities that cost the lives of their dear ones. Online
