Nisar terms Wikileaks’ ‘revelations’ false, biased

ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in National Assembly Ch Nisar Ali Khan has said whatever has been said by Wikileaks about him and his family is against the facts adding sacrifices rendered by his family for the defence of country are unprecedented and he lives and dies for Pakistan. Addressing a press conference here Tuesday he said that certain elements had unleashed propaganda blitz against him about his patriotism on the basis of Wikileaks revelations.

PML-N leader said “I kept political life of my family aside and never discussed family matters in my office. My forefathers had defended Pakistan from four generations and my close relatives were martyred while defending the country”, he remarked.
He went on to say “a letter came from former US ambassador but I did not go there. This ambassador said in analysis that “I am nationalist. But fabricated things were advertised against me and my children which is sorrowful. I have not indulged in corruption of even a single paisa nor I have allowed any one to swallow ill gotten money. Nor I have compromised on sovereignty of the country nor any one can raise finger on me. I am not criticizing media but certain vested interests launched propaganda campaign against me”.
He admitted that his in laws lived in US. But they were Pakistani nationals. ‘I was married in 1980 and my wife had dual nationality. In 1993 when Benazir was in power, offer for grant of US nationality to my children was made due to the US nationality of my wife, he told.
“But I sent a legal notice to US embassy that US nationality should not given to my children against my will. Despite it US passports were issued to my children from US consulate. My family problems were behind all this happening. My children went to US but they returned to Pakistan after one month and they are still in Pakistan. I had lodged protest with US authorities for granting US nationality to my children. But law is in place in US that parents can not decide unless their children reach adulthood. I had then opposed it and still oppose such type of citizenship”, he underlined.
He held media should criticize but one way traffic should not be allowed. Stance of the affected person should also be taken, he added.
He said that his grandfather, father and brother served in army and currently 4th generation of his family is making the defence of country impregnable.
“I have not gone to US after 9/11 incident. US is not a bad country but its policies are against Muslims. I am a Muslim first and then Pakistani. I presented Pakistan’s viewpoint before Hillary Clinton in clear terms. My family went to US once for medical treatment which was not possible in Pakistan. I am proud of green passport, he said proudly.
“Those who are questing my patriotism, their integrity and love for Pakistan is before all of us”, he pointed out.
Responding to a question he said many of those who are sitting in assemblies are holding dual nationality.
Responding to a question he said whatever comes in Wikileaks is true but the need is there that it should be read with reference to the context.
He said that some elements tried to defame him by taking specific points from Wikileaks though it had praised him as a nationalist and patriotic Pakistani.
Nisar Ali Khan said he supported Pakistan relations with US but these ties should be based on the principal of equality. “I differed with the policies of Bush administration which started war against Islam”, he added.
To another question he knew nothing about Aimal Kansi as to from where he was arrested and where he would go. But propaganda campaign was launched against me, he said. Regarding Zulfiqar Mirza’s allegations against Altaf Hussain he said judicial commission should be constituted on this matter and no slackness should be shown on this count. Online
