Operation is against terrorists but not any particular party: Malik

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Tuesday elucidated that the Karachi operation is against the terrorists but not any special political faction.

While talking to media in the Interior Ministry, Malik, accompanied by President Azad Kashmir Sardar Yaqoob, said that state of affairs in Karachi is improving and there is considerable decline in the incidents of target killing. ‘I won’t be the target of a few politicians. I am happy I have restored peace in Quaid’s city,’ he said.
He added “I want to restore peace by working with any political party and this blame game must end.”
After the passage of 18 months, the Anti-Terrorism Act has not been approved yet”. He said that undue criticism must be stopped and the responsibilities given must be fulfilled honestly. “The steps taken to restore peace in Karachi made several personalities unhappy as we have prevented them from attaining their objectives and we are truly trying to establish lasting peace in the city”, he added.
Meanwhile, talking to the media in the presence of Australian delegation, Interior Minister Rehman Malik asserted that Law enforcing agencies would launch crackdown against the agents who send people to Australia illegally and handled with iron hands. Australia would train Pakistani Law Enforcing agencies in order to extend their capabilities and both countries work side-by-side to bar money laundering and human trafficking.
He appealed foreign community to help out Sindh in the destructive floods.
