Victory in AJK to be sustained though socio-economic development: PM Gilani

Islamabad: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has said that the victory of the party in the AJ&K elections has added greater responsibility on the shoulders of party leadership and workers to come up to the expectations of the people.

“The confidence reposed in PPP by the electorate has to be sustained though accelerated development activities to help mitigate the genuine problems of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir,” said the prime minister while talking to the President of PPP Women Wing, MNA Ms. Faryal Talpur, and Secretary General of PPP, Senator Jehangir Badar who called on him at PM’s House here this evening.
The Prime Minister said that the government would continue pursuing the policy of reconciliation and dialogue with all the political forces on issues of national interests. He further said that government respects mandate of all political parties and expects the same. The Government he added believed in democratic norms and takes opposition’s criticism in a positive perspective.
The Prime Minister emphasized that democracy has been restored after a prolong struggle of all the democratic forces. He stressed upon all the democratic forces to play their role in promotion of democratic values and culture and strengthening of democratic institutions in the country. The Prime Minister being the Senior Vice President of PPP asked the party leaders to enhance public contacts and moblize the party workers to participate in the alleviation of difficulties of the masses. Ms. Faryal Talpur MNA and Senator Jehangir Badar informed the Prime Minister about various steps being taken for mobilization of the party lines for the public welfare.
