Minister
of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar on Wednesday said
Pakistan would continue supporting an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned
process of reconciliation in Afghanistan. The Minister of State was talking to Chief of the Defence Staff of United Kingdom General Sir David Richards.Khar expressed satisfaction at the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries.She
said launching of the Enhanced Strategic Dialogue, during Prime
Minister David Cameron’s visit to Pakistan in April this year was an
important landmark laying the solid foundation of strategic partnership.Talking
about President Zardari’s recent visit to UK, the Minister of State
expressed appreciation for Prime Minister David Cameron’s support and
solidarity with Pakistan and for its positive and constructive role in
the region.
General Richards briefed the
Minister of State on his recent visit to Afghanistan. He underlined the
importance of Pakistan’s role in peace and stability in Afghanistan. He
also highlighted the significance of Pakistan-UK National Security
Discussions, adding that it has helped deepening bilateral understanding
on issues of mutual concern.
