ISLAMABAD: Federal information minister, Firdous Aashiq Awan has
said that PML-N/MQM coalition was a good omen for democracy, as a
strong opposition guaranteed stability of the system.
Reacting
to the decision of PML-N and MQM to play the part of joint opposition,
on Wednesday, the information minister said that opposition should
recommend / evolve a strong conducive agenda, while the government
would seriously consider implementing it.
She said that
opposition should function within its legal jurisdiction, and also
pointed out that earlier alliances for democracy were not conducive.
“Strong opposition would enhance good governance”, she declared.
She
also advised that considering the critical junctures the Country was
passing through, it could ill-afford the politics of confrontation, and
also assured that PPPP-led government would continue its politics of
reconciliation at all times to come.
She pointed out that
during the ongoing democratic tenure, no issues of political vendetta
occurred, nor would the practice would ever be put to use.
She also declared that unity among political parties guaranteed continuity of democracy in Country. Online
