The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered to restore the previous FIA team that
was investigating the Hajj corruption case from Monday; meanwhile the
court has ordered the DG FIA to fully cooperate with the investigation
team.
A six-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice
Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprising Justice Mian Shaker Ullah
Jan, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, Justice Tariq Pervez Khan , Justice
Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Ghulam Rabbani heard the suo moto notice
case against the alleged corruption in last year’s Hajj operation.
During the hearing of the case deputy director FIA Chaudhry Manzoor submitted the investigation report in the court.
Chaudhry Manzoor informed the court that investigation against the
former religious affairs minister hamid saeed kazmi is going on and the
FIA is investigating the matter of 24 canal land and bank accounts.
On this, CJ in his remarks said that who ever will violate court orders will be sent to jail first and would be heard later.
He further said that the court had ordered for action against
investigating officer Javed Bukhari within four weeks but two months
have been passed and court orders have not been implemented yet.
Chief justice remarked that government should not protect the
culprits and former secretary establishment Rauf Chaudhry should be
sent to jail.
He also criticized the absence of DG FIA and ordered that Secretary
Interior, DG FIA and secretary establishment to appear in court in the
next hearing today (Tuesday).
During today’s proceedings, Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry
stated that concerned officers are transferred off the probe as soon as
they begin to make progress in the case.
Earlier also, the court has expressed displeasure and frustration
with the slow pace of investigation into mismanagement in last year’s
Haj operations.

CJP also remarked that pilgrims are being ripped off, while the
government was trying to save the people responsible for it. Whenever
there is some progress in the case, the investigators are removed, the
court observed. Hussain Asghar was made IG simply to remove him from
the investigation of the case, the court added.

Chief justice said that there is no need of sending summaries to the
prime minister, adding that prime minister has done nothing on the
previous letter.
Chief justice ordered the Secretary Establishment Suhail Ahmed to
present the record of the case, adding that the court itself would
issues the order.

notification of the reinstatement of Javed Bukhari today (Tuesday),
adding that if he would fail to do so the court would act against him
for violating the orders.
Justice Khilgi Arif Hussain questioned whether there is respect of court orders in any institution.
The chief justice said that the names of the ministers are included
in the corruption of the hajj scandal that is why the government is
trying to divert the attention of the court.

The court ordered to restore the previous investigating team and
