KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday returned to Karachi
after a brief visit to Kabul during which he condoled with President
Karzai over the death of his brother.
Later, the two also held
talks and covered bilateral relations focusing on transit trade,
regional situation and fight against militancy. President Karzai
thanked President Zardari for his gesture.
President and his
delegation which includes Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Defence
Minister Ch. Ahmed Mukhtar and spokesperson to the President
Farhatullah Babar were received by the Afghan President Hamid Karzai
and members of his Cabinet at the Presidential Palace.
On the
issue of transit trade the Afghan side raised the issue of containers
held up in Pakistan the number of which contains food and perishable
items.
President Zardari assured Karzai that the government
would look into it and transit of perishable items and food would be
allowed immediately.
The President will leave on a two day
visit to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday (today), according to spokesman of
the Presidency Farhatullah Babar. ===== Understanding reached with PPP

ISLAMABAD: Senior federal
minister Pervaiz Elahi Tuesday said that Pakistan Muslim League-Q and
People’s party has agreed to make new provinces in Punjab and Khyber
Pakhtunkhawa and a pact has been finalized in this regard between two
parties.
Speaking in a talk show of a private channel, PML-Q
leader said that his party and People’s Party would be allies in next
general elections added that proposed grand alliance has been collapsed
before its fabricate.
He said Ch. Shujaat Hussain has played a
key role to confiscate misunderstandings between PPP and MQM and
reconciliation policy of President Asif Ali Zardari would be useful for
Karachi.
Pervaiz Elahi said that Q-League joined the Sindh cabinet after that his party has representation in all four provinces.
He said new provinces of South Punjab and Hazara was mission of his party and PPP would support this challenge.
He
said the government has decided to provide relief to a common man
during holy month of Ramadhan and subsidy would be given on 14 food
items in this regard. Online
