PM Gilani urges British Pakistanis to promote country’s soft image

Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday urged the Pakistanis in the United Kingdom to promote Pakistan’s positive and soft image abroad and contribute to the development of the country of their origin. He was talking to Chairperson of Conservative Party and Cabinet Minister Baroness Saeeda Warsi, who called on him here and discussed Pakistan-UK bilateral relations and the role of Pakistan origin citizens in the British society. Gilani said the reason why Pakistan Peoples Party gained majority in the recent elections of Azad Jammu and Kashmir was its agenda that focused on highlighting the issue of Kashmir at international level.
The matters relating to rehabilitation and reconstruction in the aftermath of floods in Pakistan last year were also discussed during the meeting.
Baroness Warsi apprised Prime Minister Gilani of the efforts being made by Pakistani diaspora in helping their motherland and mentioned the role of British-Pakistan Foundation.
Referring to Pakistan-UK relations as trusted, Baroness Warsi called for increasing more cooperation for improving government processes. She said that the British understanding of Pakistan was based on historical connections and was more sensitive towards specific needs of Pakistan.
The meeting was attended by High Commissioner Wajid Shamsul Hassan and other senior officials. APP
