Seven in 10 American voters want US to stop aid to Pakistan: Poll

Washington : Nearly seven out of 10 Americans voters say the United States should stop sending foreign aid to Pakistan till it demonstrates a deeper commitment to the war against terror, according to a new poll.


The Fox News Poll found that 73 percent voters want the funding to be stopped, while 19 percent want it to continue.

A majority of Republicans (84 percent), Democrats (67 percent) and independents (66 percent) also want the funding to be cut off.


Pakistan is one of the top recipients of US aid worldwide as over 16 billion dollars have been provided in economic and military assistance since 2005.

The poll is based on landline and cell phone interviews with 910 randomly chosen registered voters nationwide from May 15 to 17.

It has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points. (ANI)
