President Zardari decides to contact Supreme Court against LHC decision

ISLAMABAD : President Asif Ali Zardari has decided to file petition in Supreme Court of Pakistan against the verdict of Lahore High Court stopping him from political activities in the presidency.

According to a private TV channel the preparation of the petition is in progress and President Zardari is consulting with his lawyers regarding the matter.
President was in Russia when the LHC four-member bench had stopped him from using the presidency for political purposes and had asked him to leave the political office of the PPP.
President Asif Zardari after returning in country had consulted the Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani regarding the matter and decided to file petition against the LHC verdict.
According to the sources the preparation of the petition is in progress and after the finalization the senior lawyers of the president would file it in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
According to the sources the political activities have been decreased in the presidency after the LHC verdict, on the other hand, some delegations of PPP are holding meetings with the president but there is no media coverage of these meetings.
Meanwhile in the files of the protocol of the presidency these meetings are termed as meetings with “notables”.
According to the sources present in the presidency the president respects the courts of the country and due to this fact the political activities have been decreased in the presidency after the court verdict.
Meanwhile the president thinks that being the political leader he reserves the right of political activities that is why he has decided to contact SC against the LHC decision. SANA
