LAHORE : The Jamaat e Islami Secretary General,Liaquat Baloch, has said that the attacks by NATO helicopters inside our territory and drone attacks following the Parliament's joint resolution were tantamount to kicking out such documents.
Talking to media personnel at Mansoora, on Wednesday, he saidthat the rulers had been continuously silent since the May 2incident which implied that they had no option except to obeyWashington. The government had even failed to enforce theparliament's lifeless resolution, and the country's independence andsovereignty had been curbed under the noise of the NATO helicoptersand the drones, he added. Liaquat Baloch said, those expecting an apology from Senator JohnKerry had to tender an apology to Kerry and also assure him ofprompt compliance in future while the US representative had given aslap on the rulers face by announcing continued policy of droneattacks. He said the NRO beneficiary rulers totally depending on US aidhad mortgaged the country's independence in US hands and they couldneither steer the motherland out of the present crisis nor seeWashington eye to eye. Referring to PML(N) leader Mian Nawaz Sharif's criticism on theZardari government, he said this was meaningless as nobody wouldbelieve those who had stood by the PPP government in everydifficulty for the last three years. He said that Mian Brotherstried to befool the masses by issuing such statements for a few daysbut later went back on their own words. It was to be seen for howmany days Mian Nawaz Sharif would stick to his present stand, heremarked. Liaquat Baloch said that the poor masses of the country had beenoffering huge sacrifices for the country and now the ruling elitewould have to make sacrifices. The JI, he said, had always believedthat the country should dispense with the foreign aid but the bitterfact was that the rulers were bowing before the US only to get moreforeign aid. PPI
