Kharotabad tragedy, deceased Russians were innocent: FO

ISLAMABAD: The foreign office on Wednesday submitted its report to National Assembly body on Kharotabad incident which revealed that all deceased person were innocent.

The deceased Russian men and women had no link with any terrorist outfit and had no criminal record, report said.
The deceased persons were not involved in any terrorist activity either in Pakistan or in their homeland, it said.
Report also said that Russian government confirmed issuing passports to its citizens for travel to Pakistan.
Police and Frontier Crop personnel shot and killed 4 Russian and 1 Tajik citizen including 3 women on May 20 this year.
Initially police and FC claimed that persistently only identified the five as Chechens, indicated that they were suicide bombers that were in possession of grenades and explosives and that they had hurled grenades at police checkpoint.
Later inquiry commission headed by a judge of Balochistan High Court reported that deceased foreigners were not terrorist and commission also suggested punishments for security personnel involved in that incident. Online
