Inter-religious harmony critical for peace: Shahbaz Sharif

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that promotion of inter-religious harmony is imperative for international peace.

He expressed these views during a meeting with Secretary General of an international donor agency, Actalliance, John Nudonea and Regional Representative of Church World Service for Pakistan and Afghanistan, Farrukh Morvin Pervez, says as press statement received here on Monday.
He said that it is the collective responsibility of all nations and the followers of different religions to play their role at this critical juncture of the world history for promoting the culture of brotherhood and tolerance at regional and international levels.
The Chief Minister said that Punjab government is giving due importance to the role of minorities in the national life and a minority representative has presented the budget of the largest province of Pakistan as its Finance Minister first time in the national history.
He said that 5% quota has been reserved for minorities in government jobs while functions are being arranged at the government level at the festivals of minorities.
Mian Shahbaz Sharif apprised the delegation of the situation created by dengue and expressed the hope that the organization would extend its cooperation in the drive against this virus.
He said that Church World Service has set worthy examples of public service at the time of every natural calamity in Pakistan.
John Nudonea of Church World Service assured full cooperation to the Chief Minister for elimination of dengue virus.
