ANP has reservations over MQM’s rejoining govt

ISLAMABAD: ANP Parliamentary party meeting has expressed its reservations over making MQM part of the government.

The parliamentary party met here in the Parliament House on Monday under the chairmanship of Asfandiyar Wali Khan on the situation in Sindh and Karachi, says a press release received here on Monday.
Talking to journalists after the meeting, ANP Information Secretary Zahid Khan said that Awami National Party has reservations over re-entrance of MQM into the government.
He said that there are several blames against MQM but it has been failing to clear its positions. The MQM should respond to the blames like letter by its leadership to the British Prime Minister Tony Blair instead of blaming others.
He also demanded proof of the accusation by MQM that the U.S. and UK planning to disband Pakistan and ANP is part of the plan adding that, “what are the proof that such conspiracies are being hatched and his party is part of it”.
To a question, he said that Altaf Hussain is not a Pakistani and a citizen of UK. “I or ANP is not bound to be answerable to a foreigner or respond to foreigners’ blames. We are answerable to Pakistanis and therefore we would never reply to Altaf Hussain,” he added.
He said that MQM should first answer three basic accusations leveled by former Interior Minister of Sindh Zulfiqar Mirza that are massacre of Pakthuns, called by Altaf as Taliban, plan in collusion with UK and US to disband Pakistan as well as weakening ISI as proved by a letter from Altaf to Blair.
He said that now ANP is expressing reservations on some issues and ignore some other matters but anybody should be sure that it would use its right cards on right time.
On situation in Karachi he said that law and order has been deteriorating for last 25 years and complete normalcy in the metropolis would take time.
He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had sent 25 trucks of relief goods to the flood afectees in Sindh and more assistance is vowed if asked.
On this occasion, ANP Sindh President Shahi Syed, who was also present in the meeting to brief the parliamentary party over situation in Karachi and Sindh, said that the ongoing action in Karachi was launched on Awami National Party’s demand and it should continue till the end of all torture cells in the city. He also said that police department needed to be overhauled and all police personnel affiliated with political parties should be removed.
He further said that ANP had asked to start operation from the House of its Sindh president and anyone involved in criminal activities should be held accountable regardless political affiliation.
He said that criminals were released on parole and Ajmal Phari exposed the MQM. “The Governor Sindh has not sent application of Sault Mirza for pardoning the death sentence for the last four years fearing it might be rejected”, Syed said. He said that criminals were given ministries and appointed governors over the years. He also added that 256 hand grenades were discovered from a house in Rizvia Colony in Nazim Abad.
He also added that all persons affected by floods and terrorism in Karachi should be compensated. Online
