KARACHI: Additional I.G Karachi, Saud Ahmad Mirza has announced that
during the past 25-day operation 2116 targeted actions had been carried
out against miscreant and criminal elements.
Briefing
journalists on Monday at the DIG South office, he informed that during
operations carried out between 18th August and 12th September 1478 were
arrested, including 48 target killers, and 21 extortionists, while 38
persons fell prey to target killings.
He also informed that 808
types of weapons were confiscated from miscreants, which included 27
Kalashinkov rifles, 470 pistols, 18 rifles, 18 repeaters, and 253
grenades. CID police has also impounded 9 Kalashinkov rifles, 6
pistols, one rifle, and 6 grenades.
Detailing about search
operations carried out in various parts of City, he informed that 90
miscreant criminals including 12 target killers were arrested while 290
weapons including 14 Kalashinkov rifles, 31 pistols, one rifle, three
repeaters, and 259 hand and rifle propelled grenades.
He
further informed that during 2010, 146 criminal elements involved in
killing of 245 persons were arrested, and 115 cases were filed against
them.
Informing detailed for killings in 2011, he said that
during Jan2011, 125 persons were killed, out of which 38 fell prey to
target killings, followed by 92 killed in Feb, out of which 11 fell
