Hyderabad reacts violently to Altaf’s reference to Sindh history

HYDERABAD: Following the appeal of Awami Tehrik’s president Ayaz Latif Palejo to observe wheel jam strike in Sindh, the City was subjected to acts of arsons and rioting.

The appeal by Ayaz Palejo followed Altaf Hussein’s recent statement in reference to history of Sindh, incited miscreants to torch two vehicles, one an old car parked in Naseem Nagar garage, while a truck was targeted with crackers, setting it ablaze near Maji hospital.
The miscreants also tried to set ablaze a trolley, which was foiled by timely arrival of the police.
Meanwhile strike in Hyderabad’s Sindhi majority areas saw closure of businesses, while closure of petrol pumps also saw less plying of vehicles on the roads of Super Highway, National Highway, and Indus highway, among others.
Unknown armed miscreants also resorted to aerial firing areas of citizen colony, Hur camp, and Tandoli Muhammad, creating panic and scare in the areas.
Stringent security measures were taken by Hydrabad administration to cope effectively against any unwonted action, with heavy contingents of police deployed at places, and all nearby police contingents on red alert. Online
