Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani laid the foundation of Rs 1.5 billion Multan Gymkhana project on Friday.
Prime Minister Gilani unveiled the plaque after receiving a
detailed briefing on the project from District Coordination Officer
(DCO) Zahid Akhtar Zaman.
The DCO said that the gymkhana would be built on a 57-acre are in
Moza Balail, some 16 kilometers from Multan. A sum of Rs 40 million had
been received two days ago for the project. The gymkhana will have a
marriage hall, cinemas, a library, swimming pools, four squash courts,
a card room, 56 rooms, a restaurant and 24 suits.
It will be affiliated with the Islamabad Club. The DCO informed the
PM that the process of hiring a consultant to design the gymkhana was
in progress and added that the consultant would also supervise the
execution of the project.
The government will initially provide a special grant of Rs 500 million for the project.
Officials said that membership fee for corporate members will be Rs 1 million, service members (Rs 50,000), non-service members (Rs 500,000) while monthly subscription would be Rs 1,000. SANA
