PM Gilani urges for better public transport facilities in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister has said the government is finalizing a project to provide better public transport facilities to the people of Lahore, Rawalpindi and Islamabad, he said that new buses would be plied on main routes in these cities to provide relief to the common man.

According to a press release issued here on Saturday, this he said while talking to the Federal Minister Samina Khalid Ghurki who called on him at Prime Minister’s House. Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani told Samina Khalid Ghurki, Federal Minister that she would be given a new portfolio in lieu of her old Ministry, which has been devolved under the 18th Constitutional Amendment.
The Prime Minister said that his government is making concerted efforts to win gender balance in every walk of life. He urged the Minister to mobilize the women folk of the country to enhance their participation in the public affairs. He observed that women participation in the public affairs is a key to speed up social progress and development. He said that the Government has taken a number of measures including legislations for smothering hurdles and impediments in active participation of the women folk in the national development.
The Prime Minister stated during the meeting that the Government is finalizing a project to provide better public transport facilities to the people of Lahore, Rawalpindi and Islamabad. He said that new buses will be plied on main routes in these cities to provide relief to the common man.
Mrs. Ghurki apprised the Prime Minister about various development schemes launched in her constituency for the public wellbeing. She also proposed various new development schemes of public welfare in her constituency. Political situation and Ramadan Package was also discussed in the meeting. Online
