No compromise on corruption: CJP Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry has said corruption is intolerable and no compromise can be made on it at any cost.

He said this while addressing 17th roll signing ceremony of newly enlisted lawyers of Supreme Court here Saturday.
“We should all strive to uproot corruption and bribery. Lawyers should not only discourage the corrupt elements but also identify them so that transparency could be ensured in this system”, he stressed.
He went on to say there was no difference between bar and bench. Both will have to play their role together to meet the norms of justice, he urged.
Due to movement for restoration of independent judiciary people had pinned high hopes on judiciary, therefore, all the persons affiliated with justice system will have to discourage their professional obligations in befitting manner so that they could live upto the expectations of people, he added.
Rule of law and upholding constitution was essential for all of us, he said adding “we should make all out efforts on this count.
He asked the lawyers they were going to be enrolled as lawyers of Supreme Court therefore they would have to work in better way for the sake of rule of law and for upholding the constitution.
Requirements of judicial system could not be met without cooperation from lawyers, he underlined. Earlier registrar supreme court welcomed new lawyers and congratulated them. Online
