KARACHI: All the efforts on the part of government have met failure
in preventing Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) from tendering
resignation from his office.
Sources told governor SBP Shahid
Hafeez Kardar while pointing to his differences with government on
several policy issues in the reasons advanced by him for tendering
resignations termed these policy issues against the interests of
central bank.
Shahid Kardar said he tried to take all decisions
keeping in view the survival of banking system and dignity of central
bank but steps taken by government blocked all his endeavours.
Therefore, no way out was left before him except to resign from his
