At least 27 people nave been killed and more than 50 sustained injuries in a suicide attack in the Jandul area during funeral prayers of a local tribal elder Bakhat Sultan here on Thursday.
According to initial reports, the blast was a suicide attack which
targeted the funeral prayers of a tribal leader in the Samarbagh Tehsil.
Bakh Sultan, the tribal leader, died in an accident on the Islamabad-Peshawar motorway on Wednesday. The injured were shifted to Temar Garah hospital.

Senior police official Salim Khan Marwat said the explosion targeted
members of a government-sponsored anti-Taliban militia operating in the
area.
The responsibility of attack has not been clamed by any militant
group, after the incident police cordoned off the area and launched
search operation.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza
Gilani have condemned the attack and have reiterated to continue war
against terrorism. Both leaders have directed to the concern
authorities to provide best medical facilities to the injured persons. SANA
