Politics against national interest of country unacceptable, says Gilani

CHARSADDA: Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani Thursday made it clear that PPP believed in politics of reconciliation urging politics against national interest of country must be halted as country was passing through difficult times.

Prime Minister Gilani expressed these views while addressing in a simple but dignified ceremony concerning second phase of Watan Cards issuance in Charsada on Thursday.
We must not call ourselves Sindhi, Balochi, Pathan or Punjabi because first of all we are Pakistanis, PM pointed out. Terrorism and Extremism have no religion or roots, he said.
PM said those who are leveling allegations should respect the mandate of the people and should wait till the next elections.
He said that political actors who are trying to politicize some issues are harming country.
PM said that PPP does not believe in solo flight and takes on board all the political forces on every matter as it believes in the politics of reconciliation.
PM said that PPP believes in politics of reconciliation and do not play politics of headlines, adding that it is working for the masses and would remain alive in the masses and history of the country.
He said that the criticism should not be done against the state institutions, adding that if the state institutions are weakened then the history would not forgive us.
Government will not compromise over the sovereignty of the country and dialogue could not be held on the force of gun and dictation, PM maintained.
PM further made it clear that Provincial Autonomy marks the culmination of revival of 1973 constitution in its original form.
He went on to say that the strength of all four federating units is vital for a robust and stable Pakistan to overcome the problems of inflation, unemployment and improving law and order situation.
Earlier, Prime Minister Syed Yusaf Raza Gilani visited Charsadda district and inaugurated second phase of distribution of Watan card in Khyber Pakthunkhwa. The Prime Minister was received by Governor Khyber Pakthunkhwa Barrister Masood Kausar, Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, IGP KPK, Faiz Ahmed Toru and Chief Secretary Ghulam Dastagir Akhtar. Provincial Ministers, MPAs and elites of the City were present. On this occasion, Fateha was offered for eternal peace of victims of rain and floods in Sindh and dengue virus.
