NDMA outlines Sindh’s destruction in aftermath of floods, rains

KARACHI: NDMA (National Disaster Management Authority) has released details of destruction and after effects of floods and rains in Sindh.
Detailing the harrowing after effects of intermittent rains and floods in Sindh while talking to media, the spokesman NDMA, Irshad Bhatti informed that 7,520 suffered snakebites, 616500 were affected by eyesore, 560,000 were afflicted with skin diseases, 7,50,000 suffered from cholera, 2,70,000 had respiratory problems, while 1,85.000 were victims of malaria.

Authorities have put the toll of affectees at 58, 64,000, as up from a previous of 53,00,000. While, according to the rehabilitation department of Sindh, women account for approximately 2 million.
It has also been disclosed that affected villages accounted for more than 31000 from a previous estimate of 29,000., while according to latest estimates crops on 2.5 million acres have been destroyed, as against Wednesday’s claim of 15, 95,000 acres. Homes damaged have been accounted for 12,29,000, out of which 4,52000 have been totally destroyed.
Sindh government has put the total amount of relief camps at 26,500, housing more than 400,000 affectees; out of which countless still remained under open skies, at various roads and canal embankments. Online
