ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information Dr Firdous Aashiq Awan has said that PPP leadership has amicably able to put a bridge over the raging torrent statements of Zulfiqar Mirza and if anyone has any proof of Karachi situation than they should provide it.
Addressing a press conference at PID along with Federal Information Secretary Taimoor Azmat, NDMA Chairman Zafar IQbal Qadir and member assembly Mehboob Allah Jan on Tuesday the federal minister said PPP does not believe in policy of clash and Zulfiqar Mirza’s tirade statements are of his personal opinion and of his own agenda and against the reconciliation policy of Benazir Bhutto.
She said the party has amicably been able to control the torrent statements of Zulfiqar Mirza.
In response to a question, she made it clear that statement of Zulfiqar Mirza must not be linked to the Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza as undoubtedly President Zardari has given green signal to her to continue her duties.
She reiterated resolve of the government to maintain law and order in Karachi at all cost and rid the metropolitan city of extortionists, criminals and lawless elements.
She said that the ongoing operation against criminal elements will continue regardless of political affiliations of the lawless elements till the restoration of peace in the city.
The meeting reiterated its resolve to continue the policy of reconciliation to collectively face the myriad challenges facing the country.
She further added that President has given clear cut directives to ensure peace in Karachi while court has already taken a Suo Motto notice against Karachi’s blood shed and tyranny.
She was of the view that on the special directives of Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, she personally visited affected areas of Kohistan. She distributed sweets, Eid gifts and Eidis among the affected families.
She said that families have lost every thing as they have no homes while villages inundated while 56 bodies have been extracted out while the search of the rest is underway.
It is a miracle that an infant has been saved by the Grace of God.
She said that PM has given special directives to the National Disaster Management Authority as the prime manifesto of PPP is to give relief to the down trodden masses thick and thin. Online
