5 killed, 14 injured as trains collide in Badami Bagh

LAHORE: At least five passengers have killed and more than fourteen sustained injuries when two trains collided here in Badami Bagh on Tuesday.
According to reports, Babu train coming from Narowal had halted as a child crossing over railway lines near Sabzi Mandi was crushed to death. While the train had halted to deal with the eventuality, Karachi-bound Khyber Mail coming from Peshawar rear-ended it.
The rear bogies of Babu train were smashed and turned upside down. Five people died on the spot while 14 injured have reportedly been shifted to a nearby hospital.
A report said the signal for the Khyber Mail was green when it rammed into the stationary Babu train. The driver or fireman of the Khyber Mail was killed on the spot.
It is a common practice that the people living by cross railway lines against all safety precautions and warnings
On the other hand Railway officials said that the incident would be probed and action would be taken against the responsible. Online
