Floods imminent in KPK: People along Swat River alarmed

ISLAMABAD: After floods in Sindh province situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) has turned alarming as the people along the Swat River have been directed to shift to safer places due to flood in the river, NDMA informed.

Talking to Online, the newly appointed Spokesman for National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Irshad Bhatti said that water level in the river is already above normal and it could further go up to 8 feet.
He said that floods in the villages and areas along Swat River are imminent and therefore the warning was issued to save the life and property.
He said that any possible emergency and damages in the areas situated along the river was estimated and NDMA is ready to meet any eventuality. A control room has been set up in Mingora to monitor the situation in the areas, Bhatti added.
The official said that people should not feel nervous and move to safer places in accordance with the planning so that any possible damages could be minimized. Online
