Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Speaker National Assembly has constituted a Special Committee on Law and Order situation in Karachi (Sindh) and Quetta (Balochistan). Notification to this effect has been issued by the National Assembly Secretariat on Sunday.
The members of the committee belonging to seven political parties would visit to both cities (Karachi, Quetta) to review the situation and would prepare recommendations for sustainable and long lasting peace in both provincial head quarters.
According to sources special committee would hold its first meeting after EID-ul-Fitar and it is expected that PPP leader Syed Khursheed Shah would be the elected as Chairman of the committee and first meeting would convene by the National secretariat. First meeting of committee would prepare rules and regulations.
The copy of notification has been sent to the Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.
The Speaker has constituted the Special committee in pursuance of the motion moved under Rule 244(B) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly 2007 and unanimously adopted by the House on 12th August, 2011,
The Special Committee has been mandated to look into the Law and Order situation in Karachi (Sindh) and Quetta (Balochistan) and report back to the House with recommendations within two months.
The committee members comprise of PPP’s five, ML-N’s 4, ML-Q’s 3, MQM’s 2 and one member each from the JUI-F, ANP and ML-F.
Among the members included in the committee are: Khurshid Shah, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Noor Alam, Ayetullah Durrani and Qadir Patel pf PPP, Sardar Mahtab, Khawaja Asif, Zahid Hamid and Rana Tanvir of PML-N, Ghaus Bukhsh Mehar, Riaz Peerzada and Zubaida Jalal of PML-Q, Haider Abbas Rizvi and Sohail Mansur of MQM, Khuda Bukhsh Rajar of PML-F, Ghulam Ahmad Bilor of ANP, Maulana Fazlur Rahman of JUI-F.
The committee will present its report consist of it recommendations for sustainable peace on both major cities, in the parliament on Karachi and Balochistan situations within two months. SANA
