ISLAMABAD: Speaker NA Fehmida Mirza has finalized the 17-member
parliamentary committee to review the deteriorating law and order
situation of Karachi and Balochistan.
The committee evolved in
light of strong demands from all political parties to form a consensus
based committee based on parliamentarians, and was followed by Speaker
assembly’s notification in regard.
The committee would comprise
of PPPP’s Syed Khursheed Shah, Qamar-uz-Zaman Kaira, Noor Alam,
Ayat-ullah Durrani, Abdul Qadir Patel, while Sardar Mehtab Abassi,
Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Zahid Hamid, and Rana Tanvee represent PML-N.
Haji
Ghulam Bilour would represent ANP, while MQM delegation comprises of
Haider Abbas Rizvi, and Khawaja Sohail Mansoor, Riaz Hussain Pirzada,
Ghous Bakhsh Mehr, and Zubieda Jalal would represent PML-Q, while
Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman would represent JUI (F).
The committee
would select their chairman in the first meeting, and would be
responsible for reviewing the lawlessness and disorder of Karachi and
Balochistan, and submitting its final report to Parliament. Online
