QUETTA: Chief of Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has dispelled
the impression of any military operation in Balochistan saying no such
operation is being conducted in any part of Balochistan nor army or its
subordinate institutions has any relevance with the matters related to
missing persons and mutilated bodies.
“Army, ISI, MI and any
other subordinate institution of army has noting to do with the matters
related to missing persons and mutilated bodies. There is no presence
of army in anywhere in Balochistan nor the army is carrying out
operation in any part of Balochistan”, Army chief said while addressing
inauguration ceremonies of Quetta Institute of Medical Sciences
Projects, Garrison sports complex and later talking to media men here
Monday.
Democratic order is in place in the country at present,
therefore, army has no authority to hold direct talks with those
putting up resistance in Balochistan and such powers rested with
democratic government only, he held.
He went on to say people
of Balochistan were patriotic and Balochistan and Pakistan were
correlated while a strong and prosperous Balochistan was guarantor of
stable Pakistan.
Certain miscreants were out to worsen
situation in Balochistan, he said. The designs of these miscreants
would be thwarted, he announced.
The responsibility for
improving law and situation in Balochistan lied with provincial
government and it could seek help from FC and other law enforcement
agencies to maintain law and order situation, he underlined. Whenever
army is called, it will come in aid for government, he said.
“We are inheritors of monumental heritage and we have to make Pakistan stronger and great”, he announced.
Garrison
Sports Complex and Quetta Medical Institute was a gift for the people
of Balochistan, he added. 80 percent seats would be allocated for
people of Balochistan in Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) , he
added.
Speaking on the occasion, Commander Southern Command Lt
Gen Javed Zia said IMS was completed within a year at the cost of Rs 5
billion. External elements would not be able to affect it, The project
has no political angle and it will allay if not eliminate sense of
deprivation of people of Balochistan, he held. Online
