Provincial Home Minister Manzoor Hussain Wassan has said that nine different areas of Karachi
have been identified to launch a ‘surgical operation’ at the initial
stage and every possible step would be taken to restore peace in the
city.
Speaking to media representatives after attending a passing out
parade ceremony at the Razzaqabad Police Training Center on Wednesday,
Wassan said the operation had been launched in four areas overnight
with the consent of political parties.
The home minister said eleven target killers have been arrested
during the last two days, while 83 suspects have also been detained,
adding that 54 cases have been registered against the accused.
Wassan confirmed that one person had been killed in the city since
last night and six were injured in the violence. He said positive
developments are expected from the raids in a few days.
Wasan said indiscriminate action would be conducted to establish
peace in the metropolis, adding that he could not share details about
the operation with the media as it could facilitate terrorists in
escaping.
He said that so far, three target killers have been presented before
the media and more would be presented with bared faces after arrest,
adding that investigations are underway. Now I would take action
instead of saying something. Wasan further said that some criminals may
have fled while others would be arrested.
He said that elite force would start operation against target killer
and it has ability to control the target killing incidents, adding that
no extra authorities have been given to Rangers during the operation. SANA
