To stop drone attacks, target killings, violations of HR, judiciary be strengthened: IPS seminar

ISLAMABAD : To stop the drone attacks, target killings, violations of human rights and extra judicial murders in the country the judiciary of the country should be strengthened.

This was stated by the speakers during the seminar organized by Institute of Policy Studies titled “War of Terrorism in Pakistan” here in Islamabad.


The speakers said that due to the war against terrorism the world has become more insecure; adding that due the war extremism has been increased.

The US and its allied forces has used the war against terrorisms for their own purposes, adding that it is the failure of Pakistani government that has not succeeded in securing the release of Pakistani national from the US prisons

Chairman IPS Senator Prof. Khurshid Ahmad, Director General of Repreviw Clive Stafered Smith, former DG FIA Tariq Mehmood Khosa, DG IPS Khalid Rehman, prominent lawyer Mirza Shahzad Akbar and prominent lawyer Shaukat Siddiqui also addressed the seminar.

Professor Khurshid said that we have to understand the problems first than we have solve these problems, adding that every incident of terrorism is a crime against the humanity but it should not result in enhancing terrorism.

He said that we have to take account that what we have achieved after the 9/11 incident, adding that the UN charter was also violated in war against terrorism.

He said that rights of the all people of the world should be protected, adding that military intervention is not the solution of any problem.

While addressing the seminar a representative of Repreviw kory Karidar said that after the 9/11 incident America arrested people illegally all over the world but were released because the absence of evidences against them. Asim Qureshi said that drone attacks are not doctrine of Bush but it is the part of American foreign policy. Lawyer Mirza Shezad Akbar said that drone attacks are the violation of international laws.

He said that these attacks are target killings of the innocent people because before the attack terrorists are not targeted.

He said that 15 to 22 hundred people were killed in the 234 drone attacks maintaining that only 33 were terrorists and all others were innocent citizens.

President High Court Bar Rawalpindi Shoukat Aziz Siddiqi said that all burden is on the Chief Justice about the missing person’s case, adding that courage also needed to High Courts to decrease the burden from Supreme Court. He stressed that strong judiciary is needed to stop the violation of human rights in the country.

Former DG FIA Tariq Mehmood Khosa said that Pakistan’s prosperity lies in the peaceful and stable Pakistan. He said that we have to make democratic, modern and tolerated Pakistan. He said that economic stability should be in the country, adding that country is facing worst phase because of lack in the vision and leadership. He said that presence of India in Afghanistan and terrorists both are dangerous for Pakistan.

He said that anger is increasing in the young generation because of poverty and unemployment. He said that war of terrorism should be fought according to national and international laws. At the end of seminar director IPS Khalid Rehman thanked the participants. SANA
