Parliamentary body for effective measures for stopping drone attacks

ISLAMABAD : Parliamentary Committee on National Security has asked the government to take effective measures for stopping the drone attacks in the country, adding that the Parliament would support the government efforts.

The meeting of Parliamentary Committee was held on Tuesday which was chaired by Chairman of the Committee Senator Main Raza Rabbani.

Talking to media about the meeting Senator Raza Raibbani said that new dilemmas are taking birth in Pakistan because of war on terrorism and this war is badly affecting economy of the country.

He said that instability is increasing in the society and it’s affecting foreign investment as well.

The Committee urged the government to not compromise the national interest and on security of the country. The committee said that the resolution of parliament is present on this issue in which all political parties rejected the drone attacks in the country.

The committee said that these attacks are against the sovereignty of Pakistan so Parliament would support every decision of the government to stop the attacks in the country.

The Committee stated that these attacks are creating problems for Pakistan in its operations.

Replying a question Senator Rabbani said that drone attacks are a sensitive issue however government steps against these attacks are different from past.

Senator Rabbani rejected the American media reports about military intelligence agencies and civil government.

He said that there is a complete harmony between military and political leadership on security issues, adding that message has been conveyed to America that drone attacks are dangerous for the war on terrorism.

He said that Pakistan itself would conduct the operations if technology and intelligence information is shared with Pakistan. SANA
