LAHORE: Supreme Court Bar Association President Asma Jahangir has expressed grave concern over life threats being given to Barrister Kamal Azfar, a government lawyers in the NRO case.
In a statement here Friday, she expected that the president and the prime minister would take notice of this scandalous incident and reign in their political spin masters as well as tender an apology to Kamal Azfar.
She warned that the bar would not tolerate any act of intimidation to its members by the government or its cronies.
She said Kamal Azfar was a senior advocate, who discharged his professional duties while engaged in the NRO case and as a professional lawyer he is bound by professional ethics and any attempt to pressurise or threaten a lawyer in the discharge of his responsibilities is totally unacceptable.
She said the SCBA particularly deplores that the wife of Azfar was approached to harass the family.
She said the SCBA would closely watch the investigation and stand by any colleague who receives any form of threat from any quarters.
