ISLAMABAD: Despite of tall claims by the city managers the Capital
Development Authority (CDA), Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) and
Environmental Protection Agency Pakistan have failed to make the capital
noise-free.
The Environment Protection Wing of the CDA an
assistance body to Environmental Protection Agency Pakistan located in
sector F-11, which is a regulatory agency to measure noise level and
control it by suggesting necessary measures has completely failed to
perform its job. A senior official of the CDA told this news agency that
numerous banks, educational institutions, clinics and stores in the
markets of Islamabad are involved in producing noise by the use of
diesel and petrol generators in time of load shedding.
He said
the warning notices were issued to those organizations and shop owners
who placed generators outside their boundaries, which create noise at
public places and emit smoke as well. He said the generator users at
crowded places were also suggested to get timely tuning of the machinery
to avoid un-necessary sound creation.
To a query, he said it is
the responsibility of ITP to take action against pressure horns and use
of noise provoking silencers in the motorcycles and cars.
He
said the ITP should constitute special squad to regular check noise
pollution and fine those motorists involved in creating noise pollution
in the city, which is equally dangerous for human nerves and heart
system as well as causingannoyance, aggression, hypertension, high
stress levels, hearing loss, sleep disturbances and other harmful
effects.
He said CDA would also start campaign to educate the citizens about hazards of noise pollution. Online
