1,000 patients to be facilitated at free sugar camp on Nov 14

Lahore: A free sugar camp will be held at Lahore General Hospital on November, 14, the World Sugar Day wherein a number of 1,000 sugar patients would be facilitated for all kinds of necessary medical free of cost. Moreover medical experts will guide and aware the patients and their attendants about the preventive measures against sugar.

An awareness walk and seminar will also be held in which doctors, nurses, student nurses, paramedical staff and prominent political and social figures will participate.
This was informed by Prof. Dr. Tariq Salah-ud-din, Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute and Lahore General Hospital while presiding over a meeting here today. The meeting was attended by Medical Superintended LGH Dr. Zafar Ikram, Sugar Specialist Dr. Imran Hassan Khan, Dr. Marya Aslam and other senior doctors.
Prof. Dr. Tariq Salah-ud-Din said that separate counters would be established for male and female patients at free sugar camp organized by Medical Unit One to be held on World Sugar Day on November 14.
Patients will not be charged token fee instead, they would be given prizes by the pharmaceutical companies having their stalls on this occasion. He said that doctors from departments of Surgery, Urology, Medial, Gynecology, Eye and Pediatrics would also be available at the camp to guide the sugar affectees and give them the suitable consultancy. He said that the hospital administration has also finalized arrangements to save the computerized data of all the sugar patients coming to LGH on November 14 and after.
Dr. Tariq said that sugar has become a fast spreading disease and its major causes are over eating, to avoid physical exercise and family background. He said that doctors should also aware the patients about the preventive measures while giving them the treatment. He emphasized the young doctors to focus on knowledge and research in order to rid modern diseases of current age. Online
