Visiting flooded cities to serve, provide relief to masses: Nawaz Sharif

TANDO ADAM KHAN: PML-N head Mian Nawaz Sharif has said that he was visiting flooded cities, towns and villages of Sindh to serve and provide relief to the masses.

Addressing a crowded press conference in Tehsil Jam Ali at Jam House, he said that recent monsoon had brought extreme destruction, and required full-fledged relief on emergency basis. He cited millions sufferers and perished livestock littering the landscape, causing endemics, widespread bad smell; while mixing of sewerage water with flood water has given rise to flux of mosquitoes, which alongwith scarcity of potable water was playing havoc with lives and health of masses.
He berated government’s failure to carry out such simple tasks like removal of animal carcasses, and carrying out sanitation related tasks.
Citing the current situation as analogous to that of during Independence days, he urged government to provide Rs100, 000 each to flood affectees, and PM could also use his discretionary funds to ensure relief to flood affectees. He reminded that the only stakeholders of Pakistan were the masses themselves, and berated the fact that all wealth was being converged to a few families.
He said that keeping in view the needs of masses, PML-N strived to distribute food, tents, ration and drugs among flood victims, and groups of PML-N activists had been deployed in various zones.
Referring to the Karachi situation, he said that only a strong accountability could bring relief to crime and terrorism torn City, as while the criminals are fully exposed, there should be no restraints in any action against them.
