ISLAMABAD: Interior secretary has written a letter to Supreme Court
praying it to direct all the political parties to refrain from
supporting miscreants and collecting hides of sacrificial animals and
Fitrana forcibly from the people in Karachi.
The letter has
been written through Attorney General requesting the court to issue
these directives to all the political parties during course of hearing
of suo motu notice on Karachi situation.
The court has been
requested that it should also issue orders for making amendment in
political party act on this count so that the miscreants could be dealt
with sternly.
Three causes have been cited in the letter to be
behind disruption of peace in Karachi saying that due to these elements
different political and religious groups grab donations and Fitrana
from people through intimidation and at gunpoint. Certain parties could
be restrained from indulging in such violent activities by making
proper amendments in political party act. Interior minister had
identified these elements.
It has been further stated in the
letter that interior ministry has sent a summary to law and justice
division with reference to these amendments so that protection of life
and property of people could be ensured by introducing these amendments. Online
