SC requested to direct political parties not to collect hides, Fitrana forcibly

ISLAMABAD: Interior secretary has written a letter to Supreme Court praying it to direct all the political parties to refrain from supporting miscreants and collecting hides of sacrificial animals and Fitrana forcibly from the people in Karachi.

The letter has been written through Attorney General requesting the court to issue these directives to all the political parties during course of hearing of suo motu notice on Karachi situation.
The court has been requested that it should also issue orders for making amendment in political party act on this count so that the miscreants could be dealt with sternly.
Three causes have been cited in the letter to be behind disruption of peace in Karachi saying that due to these elements different political and religious groups grab donations and Fitrana from people through intimidation and at gunpoint. Certain parties could be restrained from indulging in such violent activities by making proper amendments in political party act. Interior minister had identified these elements.
It has been further stated in the letter that interior ministry has sent a summary to law and justice division with reference to these amendments so that protection of life and property of people could be ensured by introducing these amendments. Online
