ANP for finding proof of Mirza’s accusations Demands judicial commission for bringing culprits to justice

ISLAMABAD: Awami National Party (ANP) has demanded judicial probe into the blames leveled by former Interior Minister of Sindh Zulfiqar Mirza against MQM and Rehman Malik.

In an exclusive interview with Online ANP Information Secretary Senator Zahid Khan said that a judicial commission is needed to find out proofs of the charges leveled by Zulfiqar Mirza, also former senior provincial minister.
He said that terming his charges as mere political statements would not be appropriate, these are very serious allegations that a senior politicians leveling.
The ANP information secretary said that judicial inquiry is not only vital for establishing accuracy or inaccuracy of the statements by Mirza but also for unearthing the factors responsible for target killing, kidnapping and torturing people in Karachi. In this way the culprits could be bring to justice as well, he said.
“It is strange that torture cells exist in the metropolis but no one could access it so far, people are killed and no one could stop killers, and people are kidnapped at the heart of the city in day-light,” he added.
On the responsibility of the federal government in connection to the insecurity in Karachi, he said that Interior Minister Rehman Malik should avoid extra interference in affairs of the province as law and order is the responsibility of the provincial government and the government in center should extend help only if Sindh needs it.
“We tackled situation in Swat area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where militancy was in vogue. And call in army when situation was going out of control but the federal interior ministry had little role in that and the provincial government was controlling the situation,” Khan further said.
The ANP leader said that the civil government has power to call in military under article 245 of the constitution if it considers that situation in Karachi could be controlled by this type of operation.
ANP always support across the board operation in financial capital of Pakistan, Karachi, which is being paralyzed by barring peace, he said.
On the role of parliamentarian for peace in the metropolis, Zahid Khan said that Parliamentary Committee on Karachi should take notice of the situation and also investigate as what elements are responsible for the destruction.
It is pertinent to mention that Mirza blamed MQM for dividing the country and involving in target killing as well as insecurity in Karachi while according to him, Rehman Malik is providing protection to their activities. Online
