KARACHI: In the ongoing operation in Karachi, law enforcement
agencies have arrested atleast 200 people and recovered heavy cache of
arms and ammunition on Sunday.
According to details some secret
sources informed Police that a heavy quantity of arms and ammunition
were concealed at a house in Nazimabad under jurisdiction of police
station Rizvia. On tip off , police recovered 256 riffle grenade, 4 TT
pistols 2 Kalashinkovs, 5 magazines and 28 rounds. However no arrest
was made in this regard. A person Muhammad Sadiq that managed to escape
owned the house.
On the night between Saturday and Sunday
police and special commandos conducted a joint operation in the
residential area at M.A. Jinnah Road and apprehended some 113 suspects.
Whereas rangers also carried out different operations in the area of
Kemari , Gulbahar, Landhi and Nazimabad and arrested atleast 10 persons
on doubt.
Sachal Rangers also conducted a raid at the office of
a political party at Liyari and recovered atleast 150 guns, pistols,
hundreds of rounds , daggers , knives and cutting choppers. Later
Commander Sachal Rangers Brigadier Waseem showed the recovered arms to
the journalists at People’s Stadium Liyari.
On the occasion he
told the media that the indiscriminate action is going on in the city
on the basis of intelligence information . He said that 200 people were
taken into custody out of which some 8 people were released after
preliminary investigations.
The dwellers of the area protested
against the arrests made by burning tyres on roads . A big number of
women were also included in the demonstrators which were protesting for
the acquittal of the detained people. Online
