ISLAMABAD: Failure of appointment of NAB’s (National Accountability
Bureau) chief was causing many problems for PAC (Public Accounts
Committee), whose forwarded cases were being shelved, indefinitely.
NAB
has even expressed its inability to prepare its reference against three
accused retired generals in NLC (National Logistic Cell) scandal, in
face of absence of any of its chairman.
Reliable sources have
informed that, PAC had forwarded more than 30 cases to NAB as
recommended by auditor general of Pakistan regarding financial
irregularities, misappropriation of funds, frauds, embezzlements,
non-payment of dues, and gross misuse of official authority; major
among which was NLC scandal against three retired generals for
misappropriation of billions worth of funds.
However absence of
any chairman NAB has caused all the cases to be shelved to cold
storage, instead of evolving them into references for accountability
courts. Online
