LOWER DIR: DCO Lower Dir Mahmood Aslam Wazir on Sunday said that
additional troops were being deployed alongwith Pak Afghan borders in
order to prevent the movement of insurgents from Afghanistan.
He
was talking to a group of local journalists at his residence here on
Sunday. DCO said that after a successful military operation in Maidan
and Adenzai, complete writ of the government had been restored in the
district. “There is not any no-go area in Lower Dir and civil
administration can perform its duties without any threat here.
He
said that anti-polio campaign was being successfully proceeding in the
district .He said that an official order has been issued under which
strict action against the parents who were opposing anti-polio vaccines
would be taken so that all children below the age of five years could
be vaccinated.
About the damaged government infrastructure due
to militancy in the past, he said that work on more than 100 government
schools and six bridges was underway and would be completed in the next
three months. He said that despite militancy and poverty, the district
got 4th position in literacy this year throughout the province. “The
performance of government schools as compared to private schools in the
district is far better dislike other areas of the province,” he said,
adding that one of the government schools’ student topped in Malakand
board. He said staff of the election commission and education
department was engaged in voter lists’ verification and it would be
completed till Sept, 30.
About complaints regarding the lack of
health facilities in the district, DCO said that district
administration had been visiting government hospitals and their
management had been asked to improve delivery of service. “There will
be no compromise on doctors’ absenteeism and negligence on their part,”
he said.
He directed staff of administration to pay surprise
visits to different bazaars and markets and take strict action against
hoarders and profiteers. Online
