Prime
Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Thursday said the Ulema should play
their role in promoting interfaith harmony in the society and building
bridges between various sects and religions. He asked the Ulema to
educate the people about the religious matters.The Prime Minister
expressed these views while talking to Qari Muhammad Hanif Jalandhri,
member of Islamic Ideology Council, who called on him at the Prime
Minister House.Gilani said the Islamic Ideology Council was a
constitutional body and helped the government in formulating policies
in line with the teachings of Islam.
He added he would hold a meeting
with the members and Chairman of the Islamic Ideology Council and would
propose to present their proposals in the Parliament.
Qari Hanif Jalandhri apprised the Prime Minister about the problems being faced by religious seminaries.
