ISLAMABAD: Attorney General (AG) Moulvi Anwar ul Haq has told
Supreme Court (SC) government is not restoring FIA officer Capt (Retd)
Zafar Qureshi in connection with investigation into NICL scandal case.
SC
bench presided over by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar
Muhammad Chaudhry took up NICL scandal case for hearing Friday.
The
court said it would give another opportunity to government when AG told
that Zafar Qureshi was not being restored to investigation into NICL
scandal case.
Justice Khilji Arif remarked it was order of the
court that investigation into the case be assigned to Zafar Qureshi and
his investigation team. These orders of the court would not be allowed
to be violated, he said. All were united to eliminate corruption in
India but the impression was there that the protection was being given
to corruption in Pakistan, he further remarked.
Zafar Qureshi told the court his phone calls were being tapped and his children were being harassed.
Intervening in the privacy of any one was offence, CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry remarked.
The
court sought all the record regarding Zafar Qureshi and 4 other FIA
officers from establishment division and interior ministry immediately
besides summoning acting DG FIA Chaudhry Manzoor.
CJP while
addressing AG said “ you are honest person. We respect those who are
not corrupt. We don’t respect dishonest person whosoever he is”.
The record related to suspension of Zafar Qureshi was presented in the court later which was taken into custody by Apex Court.
As
per record summary regarding suspension of Zafar Qureshi was sent by
interior secretary and it was approved by the Prime Minister.
CJP remarked interior secretary had conducted all these proceedings without lawful authority.
CJP
asked secretary establishment “ article 4 of the constitution orders
for compliance of constitution and law. You should study it daily.
The
court said to AG “ you should see once again where the matter was
heading to. The hearing of the case has been adjourned till July 18. Online
