PAC sets deadline for GHQ investigation report about NLC scandal

Public Accounts Committee of National Assembly set 30th June deadline for submission of investigation report of GHQ about the billion rupees scandal of National Logistic Cell and chairman APC said according to APC former generals and bureaucrats are responsible for the scandal.

Public Accounts Committee directed defence ministry to finalize the report before 30th June and should submit to APC in time.
Secretary Planning Development Sohail Ahmed assured the APC that army, leadership of NLC, defence ministry and planning commission would not try to save anyone regarding the irregularities in the department.
Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan headed the meeting of Public Accounts Committee in Parliament House on Saturday.
PAC directed Interior Ministry to take back the facility of government squad in one month from private personalities and directed to review the policy regarding the security to non-deserving government persons and PAC directed secretary interior to finish the watch list and details about 20 important agriculture forms are summoned from CDA officials.
Interior Ministry, Information Technology, Planning Division, Housing and Works and Ministry of Finance’s pending audits reports about the accounts were observed and audit officials told that in the procurement of land in Pakistan Rangers rules were violated.
Secretary Interior Qamar Zaman Chaudhry said that they are making matters clear and Chairman PAC said that protection of national treasure is not a political issue.
Chairman PAC said that he is doing this service in the national interest and international monitory organizations appreciated the performance of PAC, adding that parliamentary monitoring is necessary for implementation of budget and monitory committees should be formulated regarding this matter.
He said that this year is very important and any single individual involved in corruption should be necessarily punished because he/she defamed the entire organization and rangers are protecting the VIPs, adding that civil forces are being used to secure the some people instead of controlling the law and order situation in the country.
Riaz Fatyana said that protection of all citizens without discrimination is responsibility of state and extra-judicial killing is horrible, adding that police and forces are directly involved in the incidents and in the result masses are terrified so it is a matter of public confidence.
Yasmeen Rehman said that security personnel were not ashamed after the killing of innocent people.
Secretary Interior said that maintenance of law and order is a provincial matter, security of masses is responsibility of local police, civil armed forces were used in different eras and forces are deployed for the security cover of important personalities.
Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that Rangers’ personnel were provided for the security of four private personalities, adding that if government would not follow rules itself then how it can advice others to follow the rules of country and civil armed forces should be used for the strategic purposes and directed to call back the Rangers personnel from the private duties.
Nadeem Afzal Chan said that federal secretaries are traveling with DIGs and two police squads; there is no security risk in Punjab but all squads are taken for authority.
Nisar Ali Khan said that he himself would talk with the Punjab government and provincial government should call back the security squads from the private persons, adding that everybody wanted to become a VIP and masses are facing problems.
Secretary Interior told that security is provided according to intelligence reports and watch list is prepared but PAC Chairman replied that it is illegal and ordered Rangers’ to abolish the watch list.
Acting CDA Chairman admitted regarding the issues of nurseries in Bani Gala that related lands are not used for irrigation and in Lakhwal CDA possessed all its land and a special committee is formulated regarding the matter and Nadeem Afzal Chan would head the committee.
Acting Chairman told PAC that they respect all parties, members of parliament, notices are issued, new policy regarding the matter is under process and PAC sought report about the development after one month.
Nisar Ali Khan said that there are worst conditions in the PTA and matters cannot be run in the better manner by decreasing the misadministration, adding that government is sleeping and summoned report about PTA within one week and directed officials to brief the committee about PTA and former PTA Chairman was involved in corruption, adding that organizations should not bear the burden of corrupt people because these type of individuals defame the entire organization.
Chaudhry Nisar said that few politicians or bureaucrats commit mistakes but the whole burden put on all the politicians. SANA
