Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that winning the 'American war on terror' is impossible, and that it will crush the backbone of Pakistan, the United States' key ally in this ongoing war.
"We can't win so-called American war on terror. This is an unending war and it will crush the backbone of the country.
We'll fail to uphold the security and solidarity of the country," The Nation quoted Imran, as saying while addressing a public meeting held to begin his party's movement titled "Hakomat Hatawo Mulk Bachawo" in Multan.
He alleged that foreign powers were giving loans to Pakistan to influence its rulers to use the army for killing the innocent people of the country, adding that drone attacks spurred terrorism in the country.
The PTI chief said that the relatives of those who were killed in drone attacks, avenged the death of their dear ones, as a result of which Pakistanis were being killed on either side.
"If the Parliament possesses even a little honour, it should resign like Marvi," he suggested.
Imran questioned the rulers' working to deliver, asking as to what they were doing to end this war. He said that the PTI had been suggesting for the last seven years that the only way to address the issue was to settle it politically.
"I am offering the government for the last two years that I am ready to hold talks with the militants, but their American masters have not given them NOC," he maintained.
Imran lashed out at both the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N), saying that the parties currently in power were enjoying rule turn by turn, but that their days were numbered.
"On one hand their leaders are getting richer while on the other hand people are becoming poorer from poor," he pointed out. "Over 90 million people can hardly get meal twice a day." (ANI)
